A Nightmare On Elm Street - Remake 2010 - Horror - 98min

Now I'm a huge Wes Craven fan. From the Hills Have Eyes (the orignal, not the shitty remake), Shocker, The Last House on the Left (the orignal, not the disturbing remake), Scream, and I could go on and on. But WHY! Wes! WHY sell your idea to Michael Bay. Why!!!!!!
Ok! I'm all for the Horror movie genre, hell I was a kid too. Sneaking down stairs to watch a movie or tv show that my parents would disapprove, all good fun. But now Hollywood since about 2001, hasn't been able to scare a granny in the crowd to the point where her pants are as moist with fear as her little heart is. Everytime I go see a so called, "Horror Movie" it puts itself to death.

The film stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger, a role made famous by Robert Englund. Rooney Mara plays Nacy Holbrook, loosely based on the character Nancy Thompson, orignally portrayed by Heather Langenkamp. Set in the present day, Freddy stalks the dreams of Nancy and her friends as they discover that they all share a common link from their childhood; they were all physically and sexually abused by Freddy before he was murdered by their vengeful parents. Now a supernatural force in their dreams, Freddy kills off the children that alerted the parents about his deeds.
I went to see the new Nightmare remake last weekend, and I can honestly say, what I God awful piece of shit. Don't get me wrong. Its probably the best they can do with a budget of 29 Million. Give me a break the orignal Nightmare in 1984 had a shit budget of 1.8 Million to work with, and its a cult classic for a reason. Wes sold his soul to the devil, Michael Bay and like every other thing Bay is given. At first its gold, but he turns it into shit.
Probably the only good thing in the movie was Jackie Earle Haley, who got a chance to play the infamous Freddy. But either than that, its a straight to DVD rental, with no purchasing item included. The dialogue is horrible, the direction the remake went was stupid, the High School kids get more retarded in movies as the years go on. In 84 when someone said don't go in the door, you go in the door. Now a days they say don't go into door, by just going into the door. Next their killed...... Wow wheres the fucking shock, gasp and awe. Also the only way to make a horror movie... well a horror movie is by adding sound effects all over the place, that will make the audience jump 20 feet everytime they hear it. Its balls to just rely on a movie to distill fear in you with nothing but Sound Design. The Editing is good, but the CGI could have been done better, if Michael Bay didn't like it. Some of the deaths in CGI were crap. The infamous scene where Nancy is sleeping and Freddy starts coming through the wall, in the orignal it was a visual effect. Now a days its a CGI effect is placed to ruin a cool 80's effect, as well as take you out of the movie.

The one thing that I found out, that pissed me off about the Film recently is that Wes Craven actually had no say in the remake what so ever. But he did however publicly spoken about being against it. I agree with him. Don't ruin an icon that he made in horror. It was also reported that they were thinking of doing it as a prequel, but the idea was dropped fast. It has also been noted that the script was written over 15 times, and that the final draft was based on 4 of the previous drafts. Thats bull shit. It takes 15 times to re - write a remake???? Maybe you should have talked to Wes before going with your own ideas.
Come fucking on people. Make a good remake and stop re- creating movies jsut for the sake of putting food on the table. this is street trash movie thats worth seeing after its out on DVD at your local Dollerama.
Street Trash Rating: 5.4/10
Street Trash: GOD AWFUL PIECE OF SHIT FROM MICHAEL BAY
